Curse the lesson and embrace the knowledge

April is all about spring and new beginnings and starting over.

The theme this month is learning from our mistakes in order to do just that.

We all make mistakes. Every day I get at least one thing wrong, and I’m okay with this. I learn way more in failure and mistakes than I do with successes.

But not everyone does. Learning from failure means acknowledging a failure or a mistake has been made, and I know such acknowledging is difficult for many people.

I’m writing this post today while watching news coverage of the #MarchforOurLives activities from all over the Unites States and Canada.

The kids marching and speaking are showing us how to curse the lessons that brought them and us to today and how to embrace the knowledge brought by those lessons in order to unitedly move forward.

They do this knowing there are powerful forces at work focused on forcing innocent people to learn the lessons they themselves cannot.

But these kids know better.

They know embracing their knowledge is disrupting these forces. They know speaking their knowledge terrifies those working to keep the status quo and those wanting to continue gaining from the our losses.

They know a single drop is all that’s needed to crack the wall of ignorance and fear and ineptitude.

And crack it, they assuredly are.
