Moving onwards and upwards

If April was all about setting new habits than May 2019 is going to be about taking that even further. Like, adding more but not necessarily those that are more reactive than proactive.

Onwards and upwards

I discovered a new phenomenon last month: cluster headaches. I’ve rarely had headaches throughout my life thus far. This all changed in April.

I noticed I was getting headaches every other day, right behind one of my eyes. I thought it was related to general eye strain via my computer work but not the case. These were happening whether I was a screen warrior or on days-long tech detoxes.

Luckily, these have not been extreme versions (knock on wood) but they still hurt like hell. The only “cure” is to lie down and put a hot compress on the eye for about an hour. This works great, if I’m at home. I’m backing working an office job now so crawling under the desk or disappearing into the bathroom for that long is not really an option.

I think I’ve isolated a pattern to the headaches–they mainly occur mid-afternoonish–so now I just need to come up with a way to minimize until they completely go away.

I feel lucky they aren’t as bad as they could be, and I want to be sure they don’t go that route. I know people who have full-on migraines and I would not wish that pain on anyone.
